The Board of Education of Iron County School District adopted a modest property tax increase with a vote of 5-2 during its regular meeting Tuesday. Board members Tyrel Eddy and Stephanie Hill voted against the proposal.
The adjustments to the board and voted levies brings the district to the minimum rate required by the state to receive the total guaranteed equalization amounts. The new rate will generate an additional $2.8 million, including $350,000 from the state. The additional cost to home owners is about $69.69 on a $431,000 home.
